Catching up...

December was ridiculously busy and I lost complete track of time studying for finals and then with my trip back to SoCal. There is no way I can cover everything that has happened in one post, so I will just have to write multiple blog posts for the last 2 months.

The week leading up to exams and the week of exams were both intense. By the end, my brain was barely functioning and I was beyond burnt out from cramming so much information in. I had 4 essay exams and 2 practical exams, so definitely different than anything I have ever experienced in the past exam wise. The essay exams are usually 4 questions and you chose 3 to answer in detail about. Your entire grade is based off of these essays for the final and the final in most classes was worth 50-70% of the class grade, so imperative that you do very well. The essay exams are held in large halls off campus and you are taking the exam with students taking exams for completely different classes. They have exam regulators who walk the aisles to ensure no one cheats and just keep a general eye on things – they are called “invigilators”. The whole process is pretty silly if you ask me. And then the practical exams are identifying or answering questions about something that you are presented with. For histology/embryology, that meant histology slides and embryology photos. And for anatomy, that meant x-rays, bones, and labeled anatomy in cadavers. Overall coming out of exams I was not exactly sure how I did, so it was kind of like well that’s done I hope to god I passed.

Results did not come out until the 18th of January since it takes a while for them to grade all of the essays and what not. I was relieved to find that I passed all of my classes! Semester 1 of vet school down – on to semester 2.
